13 Random (and sometimes embarrassing) Things I Love To Do
2. Take a nap with Sailor Boy
3. Get my hair washed at the salon.
4. Reread one of my favorite books from childhood.
5. Go to a TARA meeting.
6. Wear Sailor Boy’s gray hooded sweatshirt
7. Make spaghetti sauce.
8. Kit up in a needlessly trendy outfit, go to a fancy, hipper-than-thou bar and drink an overpriced vodka martini, very dirty.
9. Plan imaginary Halloween parties.
10. Blast “Higher Love” at full volume on the stereo and dance around the apartment.
11. Find the cool spot on the sheets.
12. Make up fake Publisher’s Lunch-style announcements for me and my friends.
13. Look at wedding dresses.
P.S. Those of you still into the whole NYT thing, click over to the post on Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Books, where they explain the whole thing and have a PDF of the article, for your enjoyment. Play “Guess which part is about Diana.” (Hint: It’s not the one identified as Nora Roberts.)
P.P.S. Those of you who want to hear more about the cover modeling, click here for an earlier blog entry describing my first experience.
P.P.P.S. Don’t forget Julie Kenner’s auction for charity ends on Saturday. I’m giving away a three chapter critique and a signed copy of the hardcover of Secret Society Girl. And it’s not just stuff for writers. There’s everything from whole author collegtions to movie posters of harry Potter signed by Chris Columbus himself! Click on the gif to see what’s up for bid!
P.P.P.P.S. Those of you curious about how revisions are going, I just reached the halfway mark in my final run-through.

More than email, I seem to check MySpace every 30 secs.
October 12, 2006 at 5:37 am
Ditto on the email thingie. I have my email reader set tyo check email every 2 minutes, but I can’t wait that long.

Actually, Diana, if I made a list like that, it’d be pretty close to yours…except the parts involving Sailor Boy, of course.
And I’d be dancing to Liz Phair instead of Higher Love, or *egad* Phil Collins. Yikes.
The email thing: check.
The dressing up trendily to go the bar: check. (though not as often as one might think)
Now I must toddle over to Smart Bitches…

Naps are my passtime of choice and HIGHER LOVE is one of my all-time favorite songs [associated with the five years with my ex (sigh)]. I like making my ragu bolanese from scratch, too, it takes so much better than store stuff.
Have agreat day, Di!

naps and email obsession? you betcha
October 12, 2006 at 2:31 pm
I LOVE naps. I come from a family that’s big on napping. Unfortunately, my husband comes from a non-napping family…but I can talk him into it from time to time.
And wedding dresses…I still like looking at them, and I’ve been married over 2 years. Is that sad? I hope not.

I love #12! Positive thinking and visualization, y’know.

I love to make spag sauce.
My favorite part is drinking a glass of Santa Cristina as the sauce simmers.

Oh, I adore a perfectly made extra dirty martini!

Looking at wedding dresses or shopping for wedding dresses?
Love a good nap.
October 12, 2006 at 4:17 pm
I love your list! I am very guilty of checking my e-mail and blog comments every 30 seconds or so (especially when I’m bored). Oh and MySpace…I finally got one of those and it’s terribly addictive. I’m also a big sucker for the shampoo at hair salons. It’s so relaxing to get it done and the products they use usually smell amazing too!
October 12, 2006 at 4:35 pm
MySpace tends to crash my browser, so I don’t like using it. Sad, huh? I usually make it on about once a week.
Yep, that’s me with HP, Heather!
Shopping for wedding dresses/looking at wedding dresses… whatever.
Charlene, it’s really fun, as long as it doesn’t distract you from, y’know. Actual writing.
October 12, 2006 at 4:52 pm
I love the shampoo too. So luxurious.
October 12, 2006 at 6:14 pm
Ah, you should not be embarrassed about those things. Those are great!
October 12, 2006 at 6:22 pm
Napping, the most underrated past time ever!
October 12, 2006 at 7:39 pm
I find it strange when friends say to me, “I only check my e-mail once a day, if ever.” W-W-W-WHAT??? Are you human? I do the same thing…with all three of my accounts. It’s an illness. A sickness. I want no cure. That’s why my writing computer has nooooooo e-mail! = )
October 12, 2006 at 9:16 pm
I think I check my email every 3 minutes. I must check my blog every 30 seconds! LOL
Great to read you on my blog, Diana. I’ve known your blog from before when I stumbled upon the Knight Literary Agency a while ago. I hope I get published through them too once I get one of my WIPs (that never seemed to be done) finished soon.
What does it feel like to be a *published* writer, Diana?
Keep writing and have fun! (I’ll add you to my blogroll too if that’s okay?)
October 13, 2006 at 3:46 am
I also do 1,4 and 9.
Happy TT!
October 14, 2006 at 11:33 am
oh yes, email. . . you give me courage to admit it. And love the Halloween party fetish!
October 14, 2006 at 7:59 pm
What is a TARA meeting???
October 14, 2006 at 8:03 pm
Colleen-
I don’t really know enough about Liz Phair. so, I just started watching the Liz Phair video to “Everything to Me” on MP3.com. It is kind of sad…pretty voice. I kind of like it.
October 14, 2006 at 8:04 pm
Higher Love is an awesome song…especially nice and loud.
October 16, 2006 at 2:46 am
Thanks so much for the cover modeling link, Di! I loved it!
